T.N. Government Formation LIVE: CPI and CPI(M) Engage in Executive Committee Meetings in Chennai
TVK chief Vijay’s outreach to DMK’s allies, including the CPI, CPI(M), and VCK, signifies a potential shift in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape as these parties hold crucial leverage. With the TVK, bolstered by the five Congress seats, now controlling 112 seats in the 234-member House, the dynamics are evolving following the legal mandate for Vijay’s resignation from one of his two seats. This consolidation of support places the TVK in a stronger position than before.
DMK president M.K. Stalin has reportedly engaged in discussions with the aforementioned parties regarding the possibility of backing an AIADMK-led government. While Stalin has made it clear that the DMK will not join the government, he has extended the freedom for the allies to make their own choices. The invitation to CPI(M) State secretary P. Shanmugam, CPI State secretary M. Veerapandian, and VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan for talks underscores the urgency of their decisions in the face of accelerating political maneuvering.
The two Communist parties are currently deliberating on their stance, with state committee meetings scheduled for Friday to finalize their approach. Meanwhile, VCK leader Thirumavalavan has indicated alignment with the Communists, suggesting a collaborative decision-making process. This uncertainty among the allies could either pave the way for a coalition supporting the AIADMK or lead to an entirely different political narrative in Tamil Nadu as these discussions evolve.
