U.P. Man Jailed for ‘I Love Muhammad’ Post Wins Bail Amid Controversy.
The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to Nadeem, who was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police last year for posting on Instagram the phrase “I Love Muhammad.” Justice Rajiv Lochan Shukla stated that the applicant does not possess any criminal antecedents and emphasized that the post does not specify any particular caste or community, indicating a lack of intent to incite communal tensions.
Nadeem, who had been in custody since October 7 of the previous year, sought bail following the filing of an FIR in Muzaffarnagar. His legal representation argued that he was falsely implicated in the case and that the protracted nature of the trial would likely prolong his detention without just cause. The court’s decision reflects an understanding of the nuances related to freedom of expression and the need for substantiated claims in cases of alleged communal provocation.
