Thiruvananthapuram City Police Reunite 67 Recovered Mobile Phones with Their Owners.

Thiruvananthapuram City police successfully returned 67 recovered mobile phones, valued at nearly ₹23 lakh, to their owners as part of an initiative utilizing the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) system. The operation targeted thefts and missing phone complaints reported under the Fort subdivision. Notably, some high-end models had been unaccounted for over two years and were tracked down through IMEI tracking and cyber investigations.

District Police Chief K. Karthick revealed that some devices were traced back from distant locations, including parts of Tamil Nadu, after investigators identified fresh SIM usage linked to the stolen phones. This operation involved collaboration between the cyber division and local police teams, which utilized complaints from mobile users to effectively recover the devices.

As part of ongoing efforts to combat mobile theft and illegal resale networks, the police have stressed the importance of promptly reporting lost or stolen phones through the CEIR portal or local stations. They encourage users to maintain a record of their IMEI numbers to facilitate recovery. The city police confirmed that recovery campaigns will persist throughout Thiruvananthapuram to enhance the chances of retrieving stolen devices.
