Textile Minister Urges Footwear Industry to Embrace Government Initiatives and Boost Innovation

Union Minister Giriraj Singh has highlighted the critical role of technical textiles in enhancing the footwear industry during the inauguration of the 10th India International Footwear Fair. He urged manufacturers to capitalize on government initiatives like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, which aims to bolster innovation and manufacturing capabilities. The minister emphasized the importance of expanding international partnerships and fostering technology collaboration to position India as a globally recognized hub for footwear production, especially in non-leather segments, thereby encouraging stakeholders to focus on quality and value addition.

For the common citizen, this initiative signifies potential job creation and economic growth within the footwear sector, which already employs approximately 4.5 million people in India. As the government pushes for increased global competitiveness, consumers may benefit from greater quality and variety in footwear products.
