Telangana DCA Guarantees Steady Supply of Essential Medicines Amid May 20 Shutdown

The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) has issued a public advisory to ensure the availability of essential and life-saving medicines during the nationwide bandh organized by the All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD) on May 20, 2026. The DCA’s timely intervention highlights its commitment to safeguarding public health during such disruptions.

To mitigate potential inconveniences for patients, the DCA confirmed that pharmacy stores associated with hospitals would remain operational throughout the bandh. Additionally, local AIOCD chapters will coordinate closely with Drug Inspectors to facilitate access to medicines from nearby stores in emergency situations. The advisory specifically emphasizes the preparedness of corporate medical stores, including Apollo and MedPlus, to continue their services during this period.

The DCA encourages the public to contact local Drug Inspectors or the Assistant Director for assistance if they encounter difficulties accessing essential medicines. Field officers have been directed to remain alert and responsive to any public grievances, ensuring that critical healthcare services are not disrupted during the bandh.
