SEBI Resolves Over 5,500 Investor Complaints in May Through SCORES Platform, Enhancing Investor Confidence.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has demonstrated its proactive stance in enhancing investor grievance mechanisms, as evidenced by the resolution of over 5,500 investor complaints via its online platform, SCORES, in May. This marks a significant achievement in the regulatory body’s ongoing commitment to fostering a transparent investment environment. Notably, during the same timeframe, 4,918 new complaints were logged, indicating a robust engagement from investors seeking resolutions to their grievances.
As of May 31, 2026, the total number of pending complaints saw a decline from 6,167 to 5,537, highlighting Sebi’s effectiveness in managing investor issues. The average resolution time for first-level review complaints stood at a commendable eight days, while entities reported an average turnaround of five days for their Action Taken Reports (ATRs). This efficiency is essential as it not only alleviates investor concerns but also bolsters confidence in the regulatory framework governing the capital markets.
Sebi’s system is designed to prioritize investor satisfaction, offering multiple avenues for recourse should initial resolutions prove unsatisfactory. Under SCORES 2.0, entities are required to submit their ATRs within 21 days after a complaint is escalated, with an additional 30-day window for investors to pursue first and second-level reviews. This approach ensures that grievances are meticulously examined, thereby enhancing accountability among financial institutions and facilitating smoother dispute resolution.
The introduction of the online dispute redressal mechanism further streamlines the process, with complaints being automatically considered disposed of when investors opt for this route. For Wealthova investors, these developments reflect a focused effort by Sebi to improve operational efficiencies in addressing investor complaints, thus contributing to a more robust and resilient capital market landscape.
