Search Underway for Six Missing Individuals After Boat Capsizes in Yamuna River, Hamirpur, U.P.

Six individuals, including children, are missing after a tragic boat capsized in the Yamuna river on the evening of May 6, 2026. The incident occurred in Kutubpur Patiya hamlet, leading to a search operation involving the National Disaster Response Force and the State Disaster Response Force. While the boatman, Dheeru, managed to rescue three victims—Vishnu, Rinku, and Parul—six others remain unaccounted for, raising concerns for their safety.

District Magistrate Abhishek Goyal has confirmed the ongoing search efforts, underscoring the urgency of tracing the missing individuals. In light of the situation, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the district administration to launch a thorough investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident. He emphasized the importance of implementing preventive measures to avoid similar tragedies in the future, while calling for immediate and effective relief operations.

Adityanath has mandated that senior police and administrative officials oversee the operations at the scene, ensuring all resources are dedicated to aiding the affected families. BJP MLA Manoj Prajapati also assured that measures for compensation would be executed in accordance with existing regulations and that a comprehensive report will be submitted to the Chief Minister regarding the incident.
