Noida Airport Domestic Flyers to Face ₹490 User Development Fee, Announces AERA

The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) has established User Development Fees (UDF) for the Noida International Airport, setting rates at ₹490 for departing domestic passengers and ₹980 for departing international passengers for the fiscal year 2026-27. For arriving passengers, the fees are ₹210 and ₹420 for domestic and international flights, respectively. These fees are aligned with previous proposals and reflect a structured approach to airport tariff management within the framework set for the first control period from 2026 to 2031. The fees for various landing and parking charges have also been approved, with a gradual increase planned over the years.

This fee structure is expected to impact travelers directly, making air travel through Noida International Airport slightly more affordable compared to initial proposals by the airport operator, Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd (YIAPL). By aligning the UDF closer to the national average for major airports, AERA aims to ensure competitive pricing while fostering greater passenger traffic. The implementation of a Variable Tariff Plan (VTP) could also incentivize airlines to expand their routes and operations, potentially leading to increased connectivity and enhanced consumer choice in the early operational phase of the airport.

Looking ahead, the long-term outlook for Noida International Airport indicates a broader strategy to enhance airport infrastructure in tandem with economic development goals set by the government. The incremental fee increases planned until 2030-31 suggest a carefully calibrated financial model aimed at supporting ongoing operations and infrastructure expansion, which will ultimately bump passenger capacity from 12 million to 70 million annually. The challenges of ramping up operations at a greenfield airport must be carefully navigated, as the emphasis on achieving a sustainable operating yield per passenger remains a priority for both AERA and YIAPL.
