Nebius Soars 22% on Revenue Surge Fueled by Rising AI Demand!

Nebius shares exhibited a remarkable increase of nearly 22% on Wednesday, fueled by robust quarterly earnings that surpassed revenue expectations. The surge can be attributed to a significant rise in demand for AI infrastructure, complemented by larger contracts and higher pricing strategies. Following the optimistic opening at $226 and trading within a range of $216.11 to $235.96, the stock closed notably higher than its previous close of $193.23, indicating strong investor confidence in the company’s growth trajectory.

In the latest quarter ending in June, Nebius reported a dramatic sixfold increase in revenue from its core AI cloud business, totaling $582.3 million—exceeding analysts’ expectations of $572.75 million. This performance comes on the heels of substantial contracts, with four deals averaging over $1 billion each, effectively quadrupling Nebius’s total contract value. The company’s commitment to transforming escalating demand into “contracted, profitable growth” underscores its strategy as articulated by CEO Arkady Volozh, who highlighted that current market dynamics allow them to sell their entire planned capacity through 2027 under prevailing terms.

Despite the influx of new competitors, such as xAI, market analysts suggest that the demand for AI computing continues to exceed available supply, a sentiment echoed by Emarketer analyst Jacob Bourne. He cautioned, however, that ongoing demand must demonstrate diversification and sustainability beyond the AI sector to ensure long-term viability. Notably, Nebius’s capital expenditure was approximately $5.7 billion during the reporting period—surpassing the $4.7 billion forecast—as it intensifies investments in GPUs and data center expansion. The company anticipates up to $9 billion in customer prepayments within the year and has successfully secured commitments exceeding $40 billion.

In alignment with its growth strategy, Nebius has increased its contracted power target for 2026 to 5 gigawatts, an increment from the previous target of over 4 GW. The company plans to augment its capacity by over 1 GW annually from 2027, which is sufficient to supply power to approximately 750,000 US homes. This ambitious capacity expansion indicates a transparent commitment to addressing burgeoning AI infrastructure needs while reinforcing its market position amidst intensifying competition.
