Mumbai-Pune Expressway’s Connecting Link Now Fully Operational, Enhancing Travel Efficiency!
The Mumbai-bound carriageway of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway’s ‘Missing Link’ project was opened to vehicular traffic on May 2, 2026, following its inauguration by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The opening was delayed due to necessary dismantling of infrastructure related to the inauguration and subsequent cleaning efforts. This development follows the operational status of the Pune section, which previously opened a day before.
The 13.3 km-long link serves as a crucial bypass of the Bhor Ghat stretch, significantly improving travel efficiency between Mumbai and Pune. Officials estimate that this new addition will reduce travel time by approximately 25 to 30 minutes, enhancing connectivity and potentially encouraging economic activities between the two major cities.
The project reflects the government’s focus on infrastructure development aimed at easing traffic congestion and bolstering regional connectivity. With the successful completion of the ‘Missing Link’, stakeholders anticipate positive impacts on transport logistics and overall commuter experience, reaffirming the importance of continuous investment in key transportation projects.
