Molbio Diagnostics Secures Rs 281 Crore from Anchor Investors in Preparation for Upcoming IPO

Molbio Diagnostics Ltd, a point-of-care diagnostics company, is set to tap the Indian IPO market, having successfully raised Rs 281.5 crore from various anchor investors ahead of its public offering. The company allotted 34.88 lakh equity shares at Rs 807 each, the upper limit of its price band, to notable investors including Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, and major Indian mutual funds. The IPO, valued between Rs 904 crore to Rs 940 crore, is aimed at funding capital expenditures and other corporate purposes as Molbio continues to expand its innovative testing solutions.

The initial public offering is scheduled to open for subscription from August 10 and will conclude on August 12, with shares set to be listed on the BSE and NSE on August 17. This IPO is divided into a fresh issue of shares amounting to Rs 200 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) involving around 91.66 lakh equity shares from existing stakeholders. Among the largest selling shareholders are Exxora Trading LLP and various other individual stakeholders, indicating robust interest in divesting alongside the company’s public financing efforts.

Investor sentiment appears positive, particularly reflected in the robust interest from domestic mutual funds, which acquired 67.51% of the anchor book. The company’s innovative ‘Truenat’ platform, which provides rapid diagnostics for a range of diseases, may enhance its appeal to investors, particularly in the post-COVID landscape where demand for efficient, rapid testing remains high. If the grey market sentiment aligns with these expectations, the IPO could be positioned strongly for a successful debut, thereby signaling further confidence in the burgeoning Indian healthcare market.
