Minister-designate Ramesh Chennithala confirmed his participation in the V.D. Satheesan government, stating it was at the request of the Congress high-command, party workers, and his constituents from Haripad. Despite being a strong contender for the Chief Minister’s post, he initially hesitated to accept a Ministerial role. Chennithala, seasoned in his political career, also addressed questions about potential conflicts over the Home portfolio, affirming his extensive experience in government positions, including his previous role as Home Minister from 2011 to 2016.

Chennithala shared insights into the cabinet formation, highlighting the constraints faced by the Congress party due to limited ministerial slots. With only 11 ministers out of a 21-member cabinet, he acknowledged that many deserving leaders, including his loyalists Anward Sadat and T.J. Vinod, could not be included. He emphasized the challenges of representation within the party while expressing commitment to the government’s vision and operations.

In his comments regarding his responsibilities, Chennithala outlined a focus on maintaining peace and social harmony within the state as his primary agenda in the Home Ministry.
