Jupiter Wagons’ Shares Surge 4% Following Rs 211 Crore Order Wins and Announcement of Rs 400 Crore BESS Project
Jupiter Wagons has witnessed a robust upward movement in its share price, surging by 4.48% to an intraday high of Rs 268.95, following the announcement of significant order wins in both freight wagons and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The company’s recent achievements bolster market confidence, showcasing its strategic momentum in capturing growth within India’s freight mobility and renewable energy markets. Notably, the company secured two substantial orders totaling Rs 211.27 crore, primarily from JSW Group and Orissa Alloy Steel Private Limited (OASPL). This influx of orders reflects an increasing trust from key industry players in Jupiter Wagons’ manufacturing capabilities and execution proficiency.
The respective orders consist of a Rs 147.11 crore Letter of Intent from JSW Port Logistics for 329 wagons, along with a Rs 64.16 crore purchase order from OASPL for 150 wagons. Remarkably, the cumulative order intake from JSW Group alone has reached approximately Rs 270 crore in a short span of six weeks, underlining a robust demand for modern freight solutions from industrial stakeholders. Such strong order flows signal a positive trajectory for Jupiter Wagons’ future revenue streams, enhancing its competitive edge in an evolving logistic landscape.
In addition to freight wagon orders, the company has also emerged as a successful bidder for two standalone BESS projects in West Bengal, presenting an estimated market opportunity of Rs 400 crore. These projects will be managed through its subsidiary, Jupiter Electric Mobility. Operating under a 15-year Build-Own-Operate model with the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd, these contracts not only promise consistent revenue but also align with Jupiter Wagons’ strategic objective of expanding its footprint in the burgeoning energy-storage market. With BESS project orders now covering a total capacity of approximately 500 MWh, the company is targeting a more substantial order book of around Rs 1,000 crore by FY27.
From a technical perspective, despite the recent rally, Jupiter Wagons shares are trading below their 52-week high of Rs 372.85, offering potential room for growth. Currently, the share price reflects a market capitalization of approximately Rs 11,000 crore. The 14-day Relative Strength Index, sitting at 48.5, indicates a balanced market position without clear overbought or oversold signals. Moreover, the stock’s performance above five of eight critical Simple Moving Averages suggests a constructive technical setup, reinforcing a favorable outlook for investors as the company capitalizes on emerging opportunities within its sectors.
