Hyderabad Airport Issues Ebola Advisory for Passengers Coming from Affected Countries
Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has issued a health advisory regarding Ebola for passengers arriving from or transiting through high-risk countries. This measure follows alerts related to cases reported in parts of Africa, specifically from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan. The advisory emphasizes the necessity for travelers experiencing symptoms to report to airport health officials immediately.
Passengers displaying symptoms associated with Ebola—such as fever, weakness, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhea, unexplained bleeding, and sore throat—are advised to seek medical attention without delay. The document instructs these individuals to inform health authorities about their travel history to facilitate proper care and monitoring of potential outbreaks.
Furthermore, the advisory mandates that anyone who has had direct contact with the blood or body fluids of a suspected or confirmed Ebola patient must approach the Airport Health Officer or the health desk prior to immigration clearance. Health authorities also call for vigilance among travelers who develop symptoms within 21 days of arrival, urging them to cooperate fully with public health screening measures as part of the precautionary protocols aligned with International Health Regulations (IHR) and World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines.
