Gemini Edibles & Fats India Files DRHP with Sebi for IPO, Set to Launch Freedom Oils Brand

Hyderabad-based Gemini Edibles & Fats India (GEF) has initiated its journey toward an initial public offering (IPO) by submitting draft papers to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). This IPO will consist entirely of an offer for sale (OFS) comprising up to 4.12 crore equity shares. Being one of the largest regional players in the branded edible oil market, particularly known for its Freedom Oils brand, Gemini Edibles is well-positioned within Southern India and neighboring regions. Importantly, since the offering does not include a fresh issue component, the company will not receive any proceeds; instead, funds will benefit the selling shareholders.

Financially, GEF reported a significant increase in revenue, growing from Rs 10,755.95 crore in FY25 to Rs 12,650 crore in FY26, bolstered by an impressive compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20.5% in branded revenue over the last five years. With a commanding market share of 18% in the sunflower oil segment and an extensive distribution network stretching across more than 1,600 distributors and 300,000 retail outlets, the company is poised for robust performance post-listing. The IPO will be managed by Motilal Oswal Investment Advisors and IIFL Capital Services as book running lead managers.

The grey market sentiment around Gemini Edibles & Fats India’s IPO has sparked considerable interest, as many investors view it as a promising addition to their portfolios, given the company’s solid market standing and growth trajectory. This listing is expected to appeal especially to retail investors looking for opportunities in the branded consumer goods space. Overall, the upcoming IPO could signify a potential shift towards investing in companies with strong operational fundamentals in the food sector, further diversifying retail portfolios in an evolving market.
