Escorts Kubota Unveils Ambitious Rs 2,000 Crore Investment for New Manufacturing Plant in Uttar Pradesh

Escorts Kubota, a prominent player in the farm and construction equipment sector, has announced a substantial investment of Rs 2,000 crore to establish a new manufacturing plant in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area of Uttar Pradesh. Spanning 154 acres in Gautam Buddha Nagar, this facility is poised to become one of the largest manufacturing sites for Kubota Group globally. As highlighted in the company’s regulatory filing, the investment will be executed in phases, initially focusing on producing tractors, farm implements, construction equipment, and engines to serve both domestic and international markets.

The phased expansion aims to achieve a production capacity of up to 60,000 tractors and 15,000 construction equipment units annually in its first phase. Funding for this ambitious project will primarily stem from previous preferential share issuances to Kubota Corporation, supplemented by internal accruals. This strategic move underscores the evolving role of India within the Kubota landscape, shifting from a mere market to a critical manufacturing and engineering hub contributing to the group’s mid-term business objectives for 2030.

Kubota Corporation’s President, Shingo Hanada, emphasized India’s importance in the company’s growth trajectory, reflecting a broader vision for expanding affordable manufacturing solutions. This outlook aligns with the overarching growth strategy positioning India as a pivotal driver for Kubota’s global operations. Currently, Escorts Kubota boasts a manufacturing capacity of approximately 1,70,000 tractors and 10,000 construction equipment units per annum, and this new investment represents a significant push in scaling up production capabilities and enhancing operational efficiencies.

Notably, this new facility is designed to integrate advanced manufacturing processes, incorporating the Kubota production system, automation, and comprehensive quality control measures from its inception. The commitment to embedding energy-efficient utilities and stringent safety standards further reinforces the company’s dedication to innovation and quality. As such, this investment is expected to strengthen India’s status as a leading manufacturing hub while providing robust support to farmers and construction contractors both domestically and internationally.
