Efforts Underway to Transfer Shivamogga Airport to AAI, Announces MP B.Y. Raghavendra

Shivamogga MP B.Y. Raghavendra has requested Minister for Infrastructure Development M.B. Patil to transfer the management of Shivamogga Airport to the Airport Authority of India (AAI). During a press conference in Shivamogga, he emphasized the need for better governance and operational efficiency at the airport, which has seen various challenges since its inception.

In response to Raghavendra’s request, the State government has taken action by sending IAS officer R. Vishal, the Secretary of the Infrastructure Development Department, to New Delhi. His assignment is to engage in discussions with AAI officials, aiming to facilitate the transition and improve the airport’s functioning and infrastructure.

This move is part of Raghavendra’s broader strategy to enhance aviation facilities in the region, which he claims is crucial for local economic growth and connectivity. The involvement of AAI is expected to bring in professional expertise and operational best practices, ultimately benefiting the Shivamogga community.
