The recent surge in block deal activity on Monday was marked by significant institutional investments in Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), totaling over Rs 7,400 crore. This influx of global funds included notable transactions such as Capital Group International All Countries Equity Trust acquiring 2.46 crore shares valued at Rs 4,021 crore. Other participants included Capital Income Builder and Europacific Growth Fund, both of which contributed substantially to the accumulated investments. The seller, Worldwide Emerging Market Holding Limited, facilitated a major transfer of stakes among institutional investors, indicating a growing interest in APSEZ amidst the backdrop of the broader market’s positive performance.
In addition to APSEZ, smaller block deals were observed in Tata Motors (TMCV) and Siemens Energy India. BNP Paribas played a pivotal role in TMCV, acquiring 7.18 lakh shares worth Rs 29 crore. Simultaneously, Goldman Sachs divested an equivalent stake. Siemens Energy India experienced a similar transaction where BNP Paribas purchased 89,240 shares at Rs 3,256.80 from Goldman Sachs Bank Europe SE, also totaling Rs 29 crore. Such activity reflects a strategic repositioning among institutional players, particularly as these companies continue to perform steadily in a recovering market environment.
The broader market also reacted positively to political developments, with domestic stock indices closing higher on Monday. The Nifty surged by 121.75 points, or 0.51%, while the Sensex gained 355.90 points, or 0.46%. The financial, pharmaceutical, and metals sectors were key drivers of this uptick, reflecting investor confidence. Specifically, shares of Adani Ports climbed to a 52-week high of Rs 1,748.60, showcasing a nearly 40% increase over the past year. In contrast, Tata Motors and Siemens Energy India also recorded marginal gains, further emphasizing a robust trading atmosphere as political stability appears set to bolster market sentiment.
