Bajaj Auto Surges Ahead of TVS to Capture Top Spot in Electric Two-Wheeler Market for June.
Bajaj Auto has announced a significant increase in electric two-wheeler sales, registering 50,741 units in June 2026, which represents an 18 percent market share. This marks a considerable rise from the 30,593 units sold in June of the previous year. In a competitive landscape, TVS Motor Company closely followed with 47,952 registrations, while Ather Energy also showcased growth with 29,423 units sold. Overall, the electric two-wheeler (E2W) market in India experienced a remarkable surge, with total registrations soaring by 52 percent year-on-year to 285,385 units in June, reaching a penetration level of 10.5 percent in total two-wheeler sales.
This substantial growth in electric two-wheeler sales has implications for the common citizen, primarily through increased access to affordable and environmentally friendly transportation options. The rise in market penetration indicates a shift in consumer preferences, with an increasing number of individuals opting for electric bikes due to factors such as improved affordability and a wider variety of models available. This shift is likely to alleviate the financial burden on consumers related to fuel costs and maintenance while contributing positively to environmental sustainability, which can enhance the overall quality of urban mobility.
Looking ahead, the long-term outlook for electric two-wheelers appears promising, with expectations of continued support from both the government and the RBI in promoting electric vehicle adoption. Strategies such as improved infrastructure, potential subsidies, and incentives tailored for electric vehicles may enhance market dynamics further. As established manufacturers ramp up production and innovation in the sector continues, the government’s push for a sustainable and green economy is likely to solidify the position of electric two-wheelers within India’s broader mobility landscape.
