Bengaluru Launches ‘Nanna e-Khata, Nanna Hakku’ Campaign Across 52 Locations Today!
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will implement e-Khata open houses titled “Nanna e-Khata, Nanna Hakku” at 52 locations across the city, effective Saturday. This initiative, designed to facilitate khata-related services, will be operational every Saturday, enabling residents to apply for and obtain e-Khatas as well as convert B-Khatas to A-Khatas. Each location is expected to serve at least 100 people weekly, supporting Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s efforts to increase the uptake of e-Khatas amid previously low application rates.
A significant 60% discount on B to A khata conversion fees has been introduced, with the new rate set at 2% of the property’s guidance value during a 100-day window starting Saturday. This decision comes in response to the lackluster public response to the earlier 5% fee, where only 7,000 out of 7 lakh B-Khata properties applied for conversion. The reduced fee not only aims to encourage new applications but also benefits those who have already applied but not yet completed payment.
While the initiative provides clarity on the reduced fees for pending applications, it does not address whether individuals who paid the original 5% fee will receive a refund or adjustment. Furthermore, the concession will not extend to fresh A-Khata issuances under single-site approvals, which will still require compliance with the existing 5% guideline value fee. This move represents a critical step toward enhancing property registration processes and bolstering bureaucratic efficiency in Bengaluru.
