CUET-UG 2026: NTA Offers Reassessment Opportunity for Candidates Affected by Technical Glitch as TCS Expresses Regret Over Inconvenience.

The first shift of the Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG) faced a significant delay of over two hours on May 30, 2026, due to a technical glitch at several examination centers nationwide. Originally set to begin at 9 a.m., the exam was postponed, causing frustration among the participating candidates. The National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for the exam’s administration, acknowledged the disruption and assured affected candidates that they would be granted another opportunity to complete the examination.

The technical issues were reportedly linked to the service provider Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). NTA confirmed that full compensatory time would be provided to the morning-session candidates, ensuring no one would suffer disadvantages due to the delay. Subsequently, revised timings for the second shift were announced, with the exam now beginning at 4 p.m. rather than the originally scheduled 3 p.m. to facilitate logistical coordination following the morning’s disruptions.

In response to the incident, TCS’s CEO, K. Krithivasan, expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and emphasized that their technical teams swiftly resolved the problem. Meanwhile, some public figures, including Atishi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, criticized the handling of the situation, pointing to a pattern of similar issues in other examinations under the Union Education Ministry’s jurisdiction. The CUET-UG is a crucial examination for higher education admissions, with over 15 lakh candidates registered to take part in this year’s event, spanning 35 shifts over a 21-day period.
