Visakhapatnam Census-2027 House Listing Set to Conclude on May 30, with 97% Completion Achieved!

The house listing phase for Census-2027 in Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is nearing completion, with 97% of the process finished and scheduled to conclude on May 30. A total of 9,13,650 houses have been documented, revealing a significant number of empty properties, including over 1.47 lakh vacant houses and 37,358 locked residences. These findings suggest various factors contributing to the vacancy, including seasonal relocations of residents during summer holidays.

D.V. Ramana Murthy, the GVMC Additional Commissioner and City Census Officer, emphasized the limited scope of this initial phase, which focused exclusively on the identification and registration of houses. The subsequent phase, set to commence in February 2027, will involve detailed population enumeration and the collection of individual data. This structured approach aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the demographic landscape within GVMC boundaries.
