The main accused in the lynching of GRP constable Soumya Ranjan Swain, Binod Kumar Behera, has been arrested by the Odisha Police’s Crime Branch. Behera, 48, was apprehended on May 25, 2026, in Indupur, Kendrapara district, after being on the run since the violent incident that occurred on May 7. The ongoing investigations highlight the commitment of the Odisha Police to swiftly address incidents of mob violence and uphold law and order. With continued efforts to bring all responsible parties to justice, the case serves as a critical reminder of the complexities surrounding public safety and the need for effective law enforcement responses to allegations of crime.
