CM Suvendu Embarks on Inaugural North Bengal Tour, Vows to Address Region’s Developmental Aspirations
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari emphasized a commitment to fulfilling the developmental aspirations of North Bengal during his inaugural visit to the region since taking office. He recognized the ongoing support of the local populace for the BJP, asserting that he would make monthly trips to North Bengal alongside cabinet ministers to ensure the promises outlined in the BJP’s manifesto, or ‘Sankalpa Patra’, are realized.
Adhikari stated that the BJP government intends to repay the “debt” owed to the people of North Bengal, who he claims have backed the party since 2009. He declared a focus on delivering the region’s overdue developmental needs as a means to address past inadequacies. Additionally, he revealed plans for the North Bengal Development Minister, Nisith Pramanik, to regularly convene in Siliguri to facilitate local governance and engagement.
The CM’s visit is significant, as North Bengal has emerged as a stronghold for the BJP, with the party winning 40 out of 54 assembly constituencies in recent elections—a notable increase from the previous 30 seats in 2021. Anticipation builds among local leaders and citizens for new initiatives and announcements during Adhikari’s visit, marking a critical phase for BJP’s governance in the region.
