NTK to Independently Contest Upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, Declares Seeman

Seeman, the chief coordinator of Naam Tamilar Katchi, affirmed that the party will contest independently in all 40 Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for the 2029 general elections, despite recent electoral setbacks that resulted in a significant drop in the party’s vote share. During a speech at the “May 18 Tamil Genocide Day” observation, he encouraged his cadre to remain steadfast, acknowledging a shift in voter preference from ideological principles to superficial images.

Criticizing the electorate’s focus on glamour rather than substance, Seeman indicated that this trend presents a challenge for political entities like his, which are grounded in ideological frameworks. He emphasized that governance would not fundamentally change with the alteration of political leadership, citing substantial state debt and implausible promises made by politicians as indicative of empty political promises. Furthermore, he addressed societal issues, arguing that democratic decisions should not be unduly influenced by familial pressures.

Seeman expressed disdain for the Congress party’s strategic shifts, claiming it exemplifies opportunism in Tamil politics. He interwove this criticism with his calls for a separate Eelam for Tamils in Sri Lanka, positioning it not merely as a matter of political strategy but as an essential solution for the Tamil people. His remarks suggest a commitment to long-term political goals that include a referendum for a separate state, reinforcing his party’s persevering stance in a competitive electoral landscape.
