Congress Questions Rajasthan SOG’s Inaction on NEET Paper Leak Case, Demands FIR Explanation
The Congress party in Rajasthan has raised serious concerns regarding the handling of the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, questioning why the state’s Special Operations Group (SOG) had not registered a first information report despite detaining around 15 individuals. The SOG had been conducting investigations for five days before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the case, prompting Congress leaders to assert that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was attempting to suppress the matter and avoid accountability.
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot criticized the BJP government, claiming the cancellation of the NEET-UG examination exposed their incompetence and mismanagement, which he described as a “big challenge” for affected students. The Congress has expressed outrage over the apparent inaction of the SOG, suggesting that officers may have been instructed to keep details under wraps, thereby exacerbating the distress among students impacted by the alleged malpractice.
Leader of the Opposition Tika Ram Jully claimed the cancellation indicated systemic irregularities in the examination’s administration, asserting that the state government had prioritized its image over the future of its students. Pradesh Congress Committee president Govind Singh Dotasra emphasized the need for an impartial inquiry from the CBI, drawing attention to purported links between influential BJP figures and the paper leak mafia, and demanding that those responsible face severe consequences.
