Farmers Rally for Legal Assurance of Minimum Support Price (MSP) Rights.
Scores of farmers rallied in Yellandu, Bhadradri Kothagudem district, organized by the Akhila Bharata Aikya Rythu Sangham (AIUKS), demanding a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) and the implementation of the C2 + 50% formula for MSP. The event aimed to mark the first national conference of AIUKS, drawing participation from various tribal areas of the district. Prominent leaders, including AIUKS national leader Pradeep Singh Tagore and CPI (M) Mass Line State secretary Potu Ranga Rao, were among the key figures leading the rally, emphasizing the urgency of the farmers’ demands.
The gathering highlighted the deepening agricultural crisis attributed to policies implemented by the BJP-led Central government over the past 12 years, which the speakers characterized as ‘anti-farmer’ and ‘pro-imperialist.’ National convenor Kechela Ranga Reddy, among others, articulated grievances that resonate with farmers across multiple states, including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, and Karnataka, reinforcing the call for systemic reform to safeguard agricultural interests.
The rally concluded with a public meeting near the new bus stand, where leaders urged the formation of a robust mass movement to advocate for farmer rights and sustainable agricultural practices. This mobilization reflects not only regional discontent but also a broader struggle for equitable agricultural policies that ensure farmers receive fair compensation for their produce.
