Government Procures 12.38 Lakh Tonnes of Paddy from 1.54 Lakh Farmers, Disbursing ₹1,129 Crore So Far

Telangana’s Civil Supplies Department has successfully procured 12.38 lakh tonnes of paddy from the Rabi season, highlighting the department’s efficiency amidst plans to purchase approximately 90 lakh tonnes. This significant procurement reflects the ongoing measures to support local agriculture, ensuring that farmers receive the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their produce.

As part of this initiative, the state has disbursed ₹1,129.43 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 1.54 lakh farmers, providing crucial financial assistance to cultivate and sustain agricultural operations. The swift payment process aims to bolster farmers’ economic stability and encourage continued participation in the paddy procurement program.

Commissioner of Civil Supplies M. Stephen Ravindra confirmed that the department is functioning at full capacity to manage the current inflow of paddy. With a robust network of 8,575 Paddy Purchase Centers (PPCs) across the state, the initiative ensures accessibility and support for farmers in selling their harvest efficiently, thereby strengthening the agricultural sector in Telangana.
