Karnataka High Court Permits SSLC-Passed Students to Enroll in Allied Health Diploma Courses for the Academic Year.

The High Court of Karnataka has granted interim relief to paramedical institutions by allowing them to admit students who have completed their SSLC (Class 10) for various diploma courses for the academic year 2026-27. This decision comes despite the fact that these diploma courses were excluded from the newly established curriculum under the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) Act.

Justice E.S. Indiresh delivered the interim order following a petition filed by the Karnataka State Paramedical Institutions Management Association. The association raised concerns regarding the omission of multiple diploma courses under the NCAHP Act and sought judicial intervention to permit admissions in accordance with the previous curriculum framework.

This ruling underscores the judiciary’s role in addressing educational governance issues and highlights the ongoing debate surrounding the regulatory framework for paramedical education in Karnataka. It remains to be seen how the authorities will respond to this interim order and what implications it may have for the future of paramedical training in the state.
