Titagarh Rail Systems Shares Surge 3% Following Indian Railways’ Green Light for Traction Motor Supply

Shares of Titagarh Rail Systems experienced a notable rally, reaching a high of Rs 858, which represented a 3% increase from the previous closing level of Rs 831 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). This uptick follows the company’s recent inclusion in the approved vendor category by Indian Railways for supplying three-phase asynchronous traction motors, specifically the type 6FRA-6068 for locomotives. With an annual approved capacity of 1,200 units, this development is expected to strategically enhance the company’s standing within the locomotive equipment segment, allowing for increased participation in future procurement opportunities as per relevant tender and supply requirements.

In its latest financial disclosures for Q1 FY27, Titagarh Rail reported revenue from operations of Rs 735 crore, marking a year-on-year increase from Rs 674 crore. The EBITDA was recorded at Rs 94 crore, translating to an EBITDA margin of 12.79%. The profit after tax saw an encouraging rise to Rs 52 crore, up from Rs 43 crore in the prior year. These financial results underline the company’s strong operational performance, particularly highlighted by the Passenger Rolling Stock segment, which achieved its highest-ever quarterly revenue with the dispatch of approximately 30 coaches. The order book remains robust, featuring 491 metro coaches and 1,280 Vande Bharat coaches as of June 30, 2026, alongside additional propulsion sets and traction motors.

Under the Freight Rolling Stock segment, the company possesses an order book of 5,300 wagons catering to Indian Railways and private entities. The monthly run-rate for production has the potential to be scaled up to 1,000 wagons, contingent on forthcoming railway tenders. Over the past year, Titagarh Rail shares have appreciated by 1.64%, while impressive growth of 40.37% and 68.69% has been recorded over the last three and five years, respectively. This reflects long-term confidence among investors regarding the company’s strategic initiatives and expansion capabilities in the growing railway sector.
