Gaja Alternative Asset Management Ltd is set to make its debut in the Indian IPO market after successfully raising Rs 165 crore from anchor investors ahead of its initial public offering (IPO) slated to open for subscription on August 19. The company has allocated approximately 1.03 crore equity shares to anchor investors at the upper price band of Rs 160 per share. Major institutions such as Nippon India Mutual Fund and Invesco Mutual Fund have made significant contributions of Rs 30 crore each, reflecting strong confidence from prominent market players. The IPO aims to raise a total of Rs 550 crore, comprising a fresh issue of equity shares worth Rs 450 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of Rs 100 crore, although the overall size has been trimmed from the initially proposed Rs 656 crore.

The price band for the IPO is set between Rs 152 to Rs 160 per share, positioning the company’s market capitalisation at around Rs 2,256 crore at the upper end of the range. The proceeds from the fresh issue are earmarked for debt repayment, seeding new funds, and general corporate purposes. Gaja Alternative Asset Management, established in 2004, has carved a niche in private equity and alternative asset management, focusing on growth capital for entrepreneurs across various sectors. Its robust portfolio includes established names like TeamLease and RBL Bank, underscoring the firm’s diversified investment approach.

For Indian investors, the upcoming IPO represents an attractive opportunity amidst a vibrant market environment. The participation of esteemed institutional investors signals strong sentiment around the stock, which may encourage retail participation. With the shares expected to be listed on both BSE and NSE on August 26, this listing reflects the increasing interest and confidence in alternative asset management firms, which could offer investors diverse growth avenues. In an evolving economic landscape, Gaja Alternative Asset Management’s entry reaffirms investor appetite for innovative financial solutions, making it a noteworthy event on the calendar for potential stakeholders.
