Adani Energy Solutions Shares Surge 2% Following Acquisition of Vizag Power Transmission
Shares of Adani Enterprises experienced a moderate increase of 2%, closing at Rs 1,613 on the BSE, following the company’s strategic move to acquire Vizag Power Transmission Limited (VPTL). This acquisition, executed through a Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) with REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited, aligns with Adani’s ongoing commitment to expand through both organic and inorganic avenues. Notably, the acquisition aims to enhance operational capabilities in the electric utilities sector, particularly to support the anticipated demand from Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia projects in the Vizag region, projected to require approximately 4,500 MW of power.
The transaction is noteworthy in that it does not involve any parties related to the promoters or their affiliates, indicating a straightforward acquisition process. VPTL, which has an authorized and paid-up capital of Rs 5 lakh, is a newly registered entity with no previous turnover history, as it was incorporated only in February 2026. This highlights a calculated gamble by Adani Enterprises to invest in promising infrastructure that positions the company well within the burgeoning green energy sector. The deal effectively supports Adani’s broader strategy of maximizing shareholder value and expanding its footprint in critical utility measures.
Additionally, Adani Energy Solutions has attained a significant milestone with its inclusion in the MSCI India Index, alongside firms like Lenskart Solutions. Analysts from Nuvama Alternative & Quantitative Research estimate that the inclusion of these stocks could generate inflows of up to $600 million, underscoring the market’s growing interest in Adani’s developments. The dual announcements signal a robust diversification strategy and a potential uplift in liquidity and shareholder confidence, positioning Adani as a pivotal player in the evolving energy market landscape.
