IPO Rush: 34 Companies Set to Launch ₹45,000 Crore Worth of Issues by September 30!

The Indian IPO market is witnessing a significant rush as 34 companies prepare for their initial public offerings (IPOs) ahead of a looming deadline at the end of September. These firms aim to collectively raise approximately ₹45,000 crore, necessitating a rapid pace of one IPO per trading day within the next 35 sessions. With the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) having granted a temporary extension for the launch of these IPOs due to recent market volatility, the pressure remains on issuers to finalize their share sales before the September 30 cutoff, avoiding the complications of reapplying for approvals.

As of now, sentiments within the grey market appear cautiously optimistic, bolstered by a recovery in oil prices that could enhance market conditions for new share issues. Bankers in the equity capital markets express confidence, noting that several IPOs are already lined up and that investments from overseas funds have shown signs of resurgence. The first half of August saw eight IPOs raise ₹10,636 crore, indicating a healthy appetite from investors despite previous uncertainties in the secondary market. Experts project that if the current momentum continues, the market may host approximately ₹40,000 crore worth of IPOs between July and August.

The long-term outlook for Indian investors may hinge on the timing and pricing strategies of these IPOs. With some companies reconsidering their valuations or even deferring their launches based on institutional investor pushback, the IPO landscape remains dynamic and potentially lucrative. Despite the approaching deadline, the prospect of a broader pipeline extending beyond September—with a staggering 133 companies seeking to raise over ₹2.22 lakh crore by mid-2027—suggests that Indian investors may have ample opportunities ahead, provided they remain vigilant and adaptable to market trends.
