SBI AMC IPO Anchor Book Oversubscribed 20x, Led by LIC, GIC, and Capital Group in ₹2,663 Cr Fundraising.

SBI Funds Management (SBIFML) has successfully locked in INR 2,662.96 crore from a mix of global and domestic anchor investors for its anticipated IPO, significantly signaling strong institutional interest in the Indian asset management sector. The firm’s board has allocated 4,63,93,095 equity shares at the upper end of the INR 545–574 price band, valuing the joint venture between the State Bank of India (SBI) and France’s Amundi SA at about INR 1.2 lakh crore. This interest comes as part of an Offer for Sale (OFS) totaling about INR 9,813 crore, with significant pre-IPO placements further fortifying investor confidence.

The anchor book’s structure illustrates robust demand across varied investor categories, with foreign sovereign wealth funds and global asset managers leading the allocations. High-profile participants include Capital Group, GIC, and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, demonstrating that both domestic and foreign players see value in SBIFML as a representation of the burgeoning Indian financial ecosystem. Notably, 129 anchor entities have taken part, with domestic mutual funds and life insurers contributing meaningfully, showcasing an experienced investor base ready to back a major player in the market.

This IPO is crucial for Indian investors, as it reflects a significant moment in the financialization of household savings in India. The overwhelming demand for SBIFML’s shares not only underscores its established market leadership and operational strength but also presents an opportunity for institutional and retail investors to gain exposure to a top-tier asset management company. With shares expected to debut on the BSE and NSE on 21 July, the broader subscription interest will likely act as a bellwether for the Indian IPO landscape, setting the tone for future offerings amid a challenging fundraising environment.
