Market Preview: 10 Key Factors Influencing Monday’s Stock Market Trends

The Indian stock market demonstrated a notable uptrend on Friday, with both the Sensex and Nifty indices experiencing gains exceeding 0.3%. The Sensex achieved a closing point increase of approximately 262 points, settling at 77,764, while the Nifty 50 advanced by over 95 points to finish above 24,270. This bullish movement resulted in a substantial addition of nearly Rs 44,155 crore to the total market capitalization of the BSE-listed companies, elevating it to Rs 480 lakh crore. Analysts attributed this upward momentum to a confluence of factors, including easing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, reduced expectations for rate hikes from the Federal Reserve, and supportive global cues bolstered by softer US labor market data.

The easing of crude oil prices was identified as a significant macroeconomic tailwind, improving the inflation outlook and overall economic stability. Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Investments, emphasized that growing expectations for a more accommodative global rate environment further lifted market sentiment. Attention is gradually shifting to the upcoming Q1FY27 earnings season, with analysts keenly awaiting management commentary in light of a widening monsoon deficit. This environment suggests that a buy-on-dips strategy may be prudent, with specific focus on earnings quality and developments regarding the proposed US–India Free Trade Agreement.

From a technical analysis perspective, the Nifty has unveiled a consolidation breakout on the daily chart, signaling enhanced market sentiment. Rupak De from LKP Securities noted the importance of sustaining above the 50-day exponential moving average, which reinforces a positive short-term trajectory. The index appears poised to target levels toward 24,500, with initial support positioned at 24,200 and a stronger support zone around 24,000. Active trading volumes were observed in stocks such as Policy Bazaar and Zensar Tech, indicating heightened interest and potential market engagement.

On the market equity landscape, among the 3,436 stocks traded on the NSE, a bullish sentiment prevailed with 1,823 advancing against 1,513 decliners. Stocks like Aurobindo Pharma and Oberoi Realty reached their 52-week highs, reflecting strong investor confidence. Conversely, notable selling pressure was evident in stocks such as GE T&D India and ABB Power, warranting caution among investors. Overall, the prevailing market sentiment seems favorable for bullish positions, notwithstanding intermittent volatility and profit-booking activities.
